2021 Marchand & Burch Marsannay
$98.00
Marsannay is the only appellation village in Burgundy which produces wines from all three colours: red, white and rosé. Their typicity is that of the Côte de Nuits, and their style resemble that of their neighbouring appellations Fixin and Gevrey-Chambertin. The Marsannay reds have intense coloration and a bouquet which smoothly blends red fruits such as morello cherry and strawberry with blackcurrant and blueberry notes. In the mouth, the attack is powerful and generous, shading into a long and meaty finish.
The 2021 vintage brings impressive power to the typically bright fruit profile of this single vineyard wine from the village of Couchey.

TASTING NOTE
Vintage
The 2021 vintage provides a window into the typicity of the Marsannay appellation – lower crop yields due to early season frosts allowed for an even and gradual ripening period and a hand-harvest on the optimum morning in early September. Aromas of wild strawberry and red plums preview a palate interlaced with red fruits and a lively acidity with blood orange undertones. This is an elegant wine with understated but undeniable presence, and spicy, saline tannins prolong the fruit-filled finish. Decant to drink young or cellar for a few years.
