The 2020 Marsannay comes from a single planting, En la Poulette, in the village of Couchey. The soil is clay over limestone and 15% whole clusters are added to the fermentation. The elevage lasted 17 months with 15% new oak barrels. The wine has the typical depth of fruit and silky texture that makes Marsannay such a great value and enjoyable early-drinking Burgundy.
The 2020 Savigny-Les-Beaune Les Vergelesses Premier Cru is a Chardonnay from a steep south-east facing vineyard in the Côte de Beaune. The vineyard is farmed biodynamically by Pascal’s team. The wine is whole-bunch pressed straight to barrel and the wild-yeast fermented before resting undisturbed on fine lees for 16 months. Elegance, fine acidity, minerality and generous fruit combine to paint a picture of delicious white Burgundy that is almost too good to be true!
