A warm and elongated vintage, 2022 presented the perfect combination of conditions to produce a Cabernet of incredible fruit power complemented by endless complexity in the glass. Boisterous, ripe red fruit aromas immediately rise from the glass carried upon undercurrents of savoury earth, cedar spice and dried sage. After the array of red briary fruit comes deeper tones of blackberry, cherry cola and cassis with a light dusting of cocoa powder and hint of coffee bean. The palate is plush and juicy boasting persistent dark fruit, lifted by bright acidity and underpinned by impeccable structure. A fine grained tannin locks in fleeting notes of freeze-dried raspberry, mulberries, and nori, culminating in a sumptuous and extended finish. Although undeniably approachable now, this wine has the potential to evolve gracefully for another 5 years.

A perfect accompaniment to a classic beef and bacon burger, served with a side of polenta fries.

This is perfumed with notes of black currants and blueberries with hints of eucalyptus, dried peppermint, cedar and crushed stones. Medium- to full-bodied, fresh and vivid with polished and refined tannins. Even and balanced with a juicy, mineral-driven finish.

Deep red with a storng purple tint; lovely ripe blackberry aormas overlaid by hints of smoky oak and linseed oil, the palate medium bodied at most and soft tannined, crushed leaves and raspberries on palate, with a nice grip of fine tannins at the end completing the picture. Very smart wine for the money.

Restrained blackcurrant, tangy red plum and subtle bell pepper are lifted by sweet baking spices – nutmeg, cinnamon. There’s a cut of saline, nori-laced minerality through the wine’s core adding wonderful savouriness, unexpected for a wine of this price. This emerges more with air, morphing into a more pronounced dried kelp aroma. Very complex and elegant. A medium bodied palate holds a nice burst of flavour while maintaining elegance and poise. Red plum, blackcurrant and blackberry are quickly pulled into linearity by firm, silty tannins and black fruited acidity to an even and elegant finish. This is quintessential Margaret River Cabernet in terms of its elegance and savoury salinity, with complexity and poise that punches far above its $30 price point.
