The Howard Park Leston Shiraz was created from a selection of the best batches of Shiraz grown on our Leston vineyard (specifically, blocks 4 and 17) which is located in the Willyabrup subregion of Margaret River. The soils in this vineyard are shallow lateritic gravels over sandy, clay loam.
Small parcels are handpicked, and all batches are sorted to remove matter other than grapes, prior to fermentation. Fermentation occurs in open vat and closed stainless steel fermenters with diligent cap management to extract fine fruit tannin and strong varietal flavour.

Blackberry, mulberry, and boysenberry meld on the nose, forming a concentrated core of briary fruit underpinned by iodine, violet, and black olive. On the palate, a velvety fruit richness coats the mouth, imparting lingering flavours of dark plum and black cherry. The wine is gently guided by fine acidity and powdery tannin with subtle oak influence lending savoury cedar and coffee tones. Lying in wait underneath are appealing notes of cracked black pepper, smoked meat, star anise and fennel seed. Finely tuned and flavourful, this Margaret River Shiraz represents an artful blend of fruit and spice, inviting the discerning palate to savour its opulence and intricacies.
