Deep, inky violet hues in the glass allude to the abundance of blue and black fruit present on the nose complemented by savoury undercurrents of wet slate, nori and cedar spice. The Cabernet Sauvignon components bring a bouquet of currants, both red and black, while the palate possesses pliable tannins and bright, lingering acidity. To balance, the Shiraz lends aromas of blueberries, boysenberries and baking spices with notes of black plum and cacao present on the palate. This classic Australian blend shows how these two iconic red varieties can work in harmony to craft a wine that is elegant, complex and approachable.

Full Tasting Note

The region, the combination of varieties and the winemaking combine to make a slightly atypical example of Margaret River red, but oh boy, does it work. Super generous and concentrated cabernet and shiraz fill the palate with a blackcurrant, ripe plum and roasted coffee, mocha chocolate richness. The oak is liberally applied to contribute to a style that demands attention. But above all that is its vibrancy and energy. Excellent wine.

Deep red-purple colour, bright and limpid, the aromas dark and red berry laced with seed spices and walnutty oak. The palate is very savoury and firm in its tannins. The palate is very tight and grippy at the finish. It’s somewhat in its shell and begs for time. There is serious depth of flavour and excellent structure for ageing. If opening now, give it plenty of air.

Tightly packed aromas, compressed berries, black and red, rose petals, nutmeg, green tobacco, cola, cedar wood, sarsaparilla, peppermint. Surely, it’s going to unveil and open up with time. It’s dense, compacted flavours too, a coating of tannins with a very strong sensation of graphite and iodine on the tongue. Unresolved as yet. It’s all a bit gritty in texture for now. Bold wine that needs time to calm down.
