As we mark forty years of Howard Park, we’ve brought together three vintages of our flagship Cabernet Sauvignon that speak to the evolution of the wine. The 2003, the 2013 and the current release 2023 – each a reflection of season, terroir, and the quiet refinement that comes with patience.

The 2013 holds particular significance within this trio. Released a decade ago for our 30th anniversary, it bears the original 1986 Cabernet label – a considered nod to where Abercrombie began and the enduring vision behind the wine.

Presented as a Wine Club exclusive three-pack, this release is less about looking back and more about understanding how far the wine can travel.

It’s a set that invites comparison, but also rewards curiosity. Open them side by side, or over time – either way, the story unfolds with each bottle.

2023 Howard Park Abercrombie Cabernet Sauvignon
Lifted aromatics of forest berries and lavender open to cassis, mulberry and savoury hints of nori and dried herbs. Ironstone and pencil lead add quiet complexity. The palate is elegant and firmly structured - raspberry, boysenberry and ripe plum carried through to a long, tension-filled finish.

2013 Howard Park Abercrombie Cabernet Sauvignon
Sweet blackberry and blackcurrant lead, layered with rubbed dry herbs and soft cocoa spice. Opulent yet precisely structured, with fine tannins and bright acidity keeping everything in check. Pure, perfumed and definitively Cabernet with exceptional length, balance and poise.

2003 Howard Park Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot
Two decades in bottle have done their work. Primary fruit has yielded to dried herb, leather and earthy complexity, underpinned by tannins so finely integrated they've become part of the wine's fabric. Complex, composed and deeply expressive of a vintage that has given everything it promised.
