Pascal Marchand’s plots in Nuits-Saint-Georges encompass both the northern end of the village bordering Vosne-Romanée and the southern slopes near Premeaux. Vineyards in these areas express different character and build an attractive complexity into this powerful wine.

Powerful and strongly-built, this is a wine that confers on the Côte de Nuits its noble reputation of a sturdy character.

From first glance at its cavernous crimson hue, it becomes clear this is a wine of power, depth and complexity. With 30% whole bunch maceration, expect lifted aromas of cinnamon and nutmeg spice accompanied by dazzling dark berries, rhubarb, orange rind, wet soil, black tea leaves, confectionary, pencil shavings, and violets all culminating in an exquisite perfumed orchestra.

The ripeness of the fruit builds richness and roundness on the palate which is delicately balanced by grippy tannin, underlying structural oak, and a pleasant acidity. The wine has a pure intensity and fundamental structure that ensures it will age elegantly, maintaining its lush fruit as well as gaining classic aged Pinot notes of game and earth.
