The 2016 Leston Shiraz forms part of the Burch Family Wines Private Cellar available exclusively for our Wine Club members.
The tasting notes attached below were prepared upon the original release of the wine and reflect the sensory appraisal of our winemakers at that time.
The magic of temperature-controlled cellaring will reveal an exciting evolution of flavour and structure in the wine, which you will be able to appreciate and enjoy upon opening. Cellared wines can undergo colour change and contain sediment which develops naturally in the ageing process. Consider standing the wines upright for 24 hours before serving and/or carefully decanting off the sediment – your efforts will be worth it!

Margaret River’s temperate maritime climate gives Shiraz a distinctive balance of generous fruit, savoury spice and elegance. Howard Park’s 2016 Leston Shiraz is a fine example of this style. Aromas of ripe black plum bring richness and depth, complemented by inviting mocha and cocoa notes from French oak. Hints of ginger, anise and pepper add layers of spice and complexity. The palate is round and generous, with soft red berry fruit and a plush mouthfeel balanced by vibrant, chewy tannins.
